Modeling electromagnetic parameters of the polar ionosphere

This service provides modelling of the following polar ionosphere parameters:

  • Density of the field-aligned currents (FAC),
  • Electrostatic potential (Potential),
  • Ionosphere conductivity (sigH).

Input parameters of the model should be indicated below.

Maps of the calculated parameters are built in the coordinates "magnetic local time (MLT) - magnetic colatitude". Direction to the Sun (12 MLT) is at the top of the image, morning side is to the right, evening side is to the left, midnight side is at the bottom. Center of the image represents geomagnetic pole.

Bz, nT (-12...12)       F107, units (50...350)
By, nT (-12...12) DOY, days (1...356)
Kp, units (1...8) UT, decimal hours (0.0...23.9)
